about

Recorded at The Glad Cafe on Saturday 6th April 2019. The last show of Lavinia Blackwall & Stilton's Spring 2019 UK tour.

We were delighted to hear from Lavinia when she said she wanted to end her first headline tour with her new project in our venue in Glasgow's Southside - The Glad Cafe. The band had been on tour for a couple of weeks and when they arrived for soundcheck that Saturday, they were late and looking fairly disheveled but still in high spirits! Stories spilled out of a tour fulled by crisps and red wine. They'd had a good time and the shows had been even more successful than they could have imagined.

Lavinia was already a Glad Cafe favourite. Since the venue opened in 2012, she had played countless times with Trembling Bells - a real supporter of our space, not to mention, one of our favourite acts. Since the demise of the Bells, we had been waiting with anticipation to see what the members would go on to. When news broke of Lavinia's solo project backed with a band that included some of the most tasteful players on the circuit, our impatiency hit critical levels. Marco Rea of The Wellgreen would handle lead guitar and harmony duties, Seb Jonsen of psych-rock acts Helicon, Tomorrow Syndicate and many more would be drumming and, on this tour, Graham Gordon would play Rickenbacker bass guitar.

This recording, released on The Glad Cafe's own Glorious Traces imprint, captures the energy and fun of a band at the end of a tour but at the start of something new. With guest performances from the tour support act and fellow Troublemakers, Mike & Solveig.
